The 5th Statewide Conference on Illegal Dumping sought to elevate and disseminate best practices for addressing illegal dumping throughout the State of California. The theme of this Conference was “Best Practices to End Illegal Dumping” and sought to promote best-practices such as cross-sector collaboration and The Three E’s Strategy (Education, Eradication, Enforcement) for all communities (Urban, Suburban, and Rural). Each day of the Conference featured a series of speakers and presentations from experts in the field.

The Conference is a hybrid event, with in-person activities in downtown Oakland, CA and also available online via Zoom.

Nate Miley

Alameda County Board of Supervisors, District 4

Nate Miley was first elected to the Alameda County Board of Supervisors in November 2000 and is currently serving his sixth term. He represents District 4, which includes portions of Oakland, from Montclair in the north to Oracle Arena and the Oakland Coliseum in the south, the City of Pleasanton and the unincorporated communities of Ashland, Castro Valley, Cherryland, El Portal Ridge, Fairmont Terrace, Fairview and Hillcrest Knolls. In January 2021, he was appointed Vice-President by his colleagues on the Board of Supervisors.

Prior to representing District 4, he had the honor of serving the residents of Oakland City Council District 6 where he earned the moniker “maverick” for his tenacity in challenging the status quo and pursuing novel, grassroots-based solutions which leveraged community engagement to tackle issues and problems. As a County Supervisor, he continues to engage and empower communities, protect open space, strengthen our healthcare system, and create more livable and safe neighborhoods. He brings with him a commitment and platform to deliver and improve transportation, healthcare, public safety, and social services to his highly diverse constituent base.

How to access the Conference

The Conference is at the Alameda County Training and Conference Center (125 12th St Ste 400, Oakland, CA 94607). Proceed through the lobby and use the elevator to access the 4th floor.

Validated parking is available at the Oakland Museum of California Parking Lot at 1000 Oak St, Oakland, CA 94607. Ask a Conference staff member for an OMCA sticker, which will allow you to validate your parking at Museum. Validated parking costs $10 per day.

NOTE: The OMCA Garage closes at 7:00 PM. Be sure to remove your care before then.

Translation

Translation services are available through Zoom. In-person attendees that wish to receive translation services may bring a laptop and use the overflow room to listen or speak with Conference staff about borrowing equipment.

IDCon5 is a Zero Waste Conference and will not provide written or printed conference materials. All materials are available on this website.

How to ask questions of panelists and presenters

Microphones will be available on either side of the room, and available to in-person participants who wish to ask questions at the end of a presentation or panel. At the appropriate time, participants will be asked to line up on either side of the room, in front of the available microphones, and will be called on by the Conference host.

Each day of the conference will be recorded. Recordings will be made available on the post-Conference website, and a link will be sent to all registered participants.

How to choose language preferences

Click Interpretation, choose your language. Select Mute Original Audio. You cannot listen to language interpretation if you dial in.

How to ask questions of panelists and presenters

The conference will use the Zoom Q&A Feature. At the bottom of your Zoom window click on the “Q&A” Icon and type your question into the popup.

Preference for questions will be given to the in-person audience, and any online questions that haven’t been answered will be asked by Conference staff.
